Les Céramiques de Lussan

Les Céramiques de Lussan make ceramic hens, young hens and guinea fowl by hand in Lussan, a walled medieval village in the South of France. Artisan Heidi Caillard founded the studio in 1974, and since 1994 her son has run the family workshop.

Why buy Les Céramiques de Lussan?

Red clay, glazed by hand

Each bird is cast in red clay from Aix-en-Provence and glazed by hand. Small variations in colour and finish mean no two pieces are exactly alike.

The range

  • Poule - the hen, 21 cm
  • Poulette - the young hen, in 12.5 cm and 7.5 cm
  • Pintade - the guinea fowl, 17 cm, standing upright or pecking

Glazes include black, burgundy, white, lavender, cobalt and terracotta. Group different sizes and colours together to make a small flock on a table, shelf or mantel.

Inside or out

The ceramics are suitable for outdoors, so they work as well in a garden, on a balcony or by the front door as they do inside.

They are French for hen, young hen and guinea fowl. The Poule hen is 21 cm, the Poulette comes in 12.5 cm and 7.5 cm, and the Pintade guinea fowl is 17 cm.
