Margarete Steiff founded her own toy factory in 1893, quickly established a reputation for quality and began selling to stores including Harrods. In 1902 she launched a new product, a plush bear with movable arms and legs. Steiff bears are still made today so if you want your teddy bear to be 100% original then it should be a Steiff.
