British writer Bruce Chatwin famously referred to the simple black notebooks he bought from a stationery shop in Tours, France, as "moleskines" but that small French binder stopped producing them in 1986. Thankfully in 1997 Modo & Modo, a publisher from Milan decided to revive the classic design and now sells them under the Moleskine brand. Instantly recognisable with their rounded corners, elastic closure and ivory covered paper they are now everyone's favourite notebook.
